Frequently
Asked
Questions
Listed are frequently asked questions that we are happy to provide answers for.
1
How does neurofeedback work?
Sensors are placed on the scalp to monitor the electrical activity in the brain. The EEG information is relayed to a computer that provides live visual and audible feedback based on specific and targeted training protocols determined by skilled Neurofeedback practitioners at the B.E.T. Center. Training is like exercising the brain. Neurofeedback is directly retraining the underlying electrical activity patterns associated with the condition. Over time your brain will begin to function at a higher level which will relieve the reported conditions and symptoms.
Each session lasts 45-60 minutes.
2
How many neurofeedback sessions do I need?
Every client will follow a personalized training plan and is different for everyone. For lasting results, we typically recommend 30+ sessions.
3
What is a brain map / QEEG?
A qEEG or Brain Map is an assessment tool to evaluate a person’s electrical brain activity. The brain's functional ability is dependent on normal or healthy electrical activity in the brain. While being compared to a "normative" database, dysregulated areas are termed bio-markers that can be trained to help reduce unwanted symptoms. The qEEG assessment provides a detailed clinical report that includes pictures of the electrical functionality of an individual’s brain.
4
Is neurofeedback covered by my insurance?
Neurofeedback is generally not covered by insurance. If clients are interested in having their neurofeedback training covered by their insurance, we ask that they look into their specific plan with their provider.
