March 17th: What is HRV Biofeedback?


“HRV is one of the most powerful indicators of brain-body health.” Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Biofeedback is like getting a real-time window into how your body is responding to stress and how well your nervous system is able to adapt. During a session, a small, painless sensor—typically placed on the ear—measures subtle changes in your heart rate, reflecting the communication between your heart, brain, and breathing patterns. This information is displayed on a screen, allowing you to see how your body shifts between stress and relaxation states. With guidance, you learn specific breathing and regulation techniques that help bring your system into a more balanced, efficient rhythm. Over time, HRV biofeedback trains your nervous system to become more flexible and resilient, which can lead to improvements in anxiety, emotional regulation, focus, sleep, and overall well-being. Unlike passive treatments, this is a life skill—once learned, you can use it anytime to help your body reset and perform at its best.
